Senate President Godswill Akpabio delivered a heartfelt eulogy for Senator Okechukwu Ezea, describing him as a faithful servant of the Republic who laboured tirelessly for Nigeria’s progress.

Akpabio emphasised that Ezea’s dedication to public service was rooted in his conviction that Nigeria would one day reach its full potential.

Despite his passing, Akpabio said he believed Ezea departed with the assurance that Nigeria was on the right path.

He said Ezea served with distinction as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing and made meaningful contributions across other committee assignments.

He stated that the late senator believed deeply in the dignity of public service, the importance of laws, and the endurance of institutions.

He stated that Ezea’s legacy included facilitating empowerment initiatives to uplift lives and diligently representing his constituents in the Senate.

Acvording to him, Ezea remained committed to the Labour Party, despite pressures from various quarters, and was known for his loyalty and dedication ² ³.

The Senate, led by Akpabio, paid a condolence visit to Ezea’s family, expressing their grief and solidarity.

Senator Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate, also paid tribute, encouraging Ezea’s family to find comfort in the legacy he left behind.

Other notable figures, including former Senate President Ken Nnamani and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, attended the tribute event.

Akpabio reflected on the loss, stating, “The last two years have been particularly heavy for us in the Senate. We have lost colleagues in quick succession—men of intellect, courage, and vision.”
