Agbazilo Reps ticket: Plot to alter leaders’ consensus pick thickens

Mr Ose Anenih, House of Reps hopeful.

There were credible feelers that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Special Committee on Election In the Esan North-East Local Government has reached a consensus to present a common aspirant for the May 12 primary election after a rigorous assessment.

There were however rumours doing the rounds that a sinister move has been initiated to alter the outcome.

One of the elders in the Super Leaders’ Forum that conducted the assessment hinted THE CONCLAVE that “there is a shameful plot to alter our verdict and it is very concerning to me because of my reputation.

“I am making this known because I have seen an obvious pressure to change our conclusion, and I fear that it would damage our name and standing in the estimate of party members and before the public.

“It is no longer hidden that that young man, Ose Anenih, the son of Owanlen (the late Chief Tony Anenih), against the expectations of many of us, turned the tide around and performed far better than any of the other aspirants when the committee interviewed the four aspirants.

“There will be no excuse under the sun to recommend otherwise because Ose Anenih ticked every box, answered every question perfectly and convinced every one of us that he would do better than the others.

“Painfully, I do not want to mention names, but one of the aspirants assessed by our committee has been going round at night to influence our members, and I have been approached.

“I will not hesitate to come out publicly to reveal the truth if I see an attempt by the committee members to compromise our findings.”

THE CONCLAVE also learnt that a prominent leader in the committee is worried that attempt is being made to change the outcome of the exercise, which was made known on Friday ahead of formal presentation at 3 pm on Sunday.

A source said that the prominent leader confirmed that some members of the committee had reported to him that some persons have been reaching out to them with a view to inducing them to change the outcome of the exercise.

Recall that the PDP Super Leaders’ Forum, Party Stakeholders and members in the Esan North-East Local Government had set up a Special Election Committee to have a common front and pick a consensus among the four aspirants for the Reps ticket.
