Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo has restored to Chief James Ibori, former Governor of Delta State the parcel of land lying and situate in Government Reservation Area, GRA, of Benin which Certificate of Occupancy was revoked by former Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Hon Paul Ohonbamu, Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communications in a statement, noted that the said land was subsequently given to Hon Matthew Iduoriyekemwen by Godwin Obaseki.
The governor also restored to Captain Nogie Megisson, the parcel of land whose Certificate of Occupancy was similarly, maliciously revoked by Godwin Obaseki.
In the same circumstances, Governor Monday Okpebholo was quoted to have expressed the belief that the action of Godwin Obaseki was malicious and politically motivated.
According to the statement; “for the Governor, such actions are repugnant to civility, natural justice, equity, and good conscience and cannot be allowed to stand.”
The commissioner noted that there were several others that Obaseki’s revocation followed the same pattern and were altogether ineffectual and barren.
The statement added, “It is Governor Monday Okpebholo’s position that public goods cannot be sacrificed at the altar of political considerations.”
