The African Democratic Congress [ADC] says its lawyers are studying a Federal High Court ruling that barred INEC from recognising congresses held under the David Mark-led leadership.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik gave the order, effectively nullifying the emergence of the party’s newly elected but yet-to-be-inaugurated state chairmen.

Reacting Wednesday, ADC National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said the party has directed its legal team to review the judgment and advise on the next steps.

Abdullahi noted that the party had earlier clarified that its recent congresses did not end the tenure of current State Executive Committees. “They are to complete their terms before the inauguration of newly elected officials,” he said.

He urged members to stay calm while the party “explores all available options.”

The ruling is the latest twist in the ADC’s leadership tussle since David Mark emerged at the helm.
