Nigeria’s former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, had urged President Donald Trump of the United States of America to support Nigeria’s fight against insecurity and not issue threats.
Recall that President Trump had redesignated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern (CPC)” over claims of Christian genocide in the country.
Abdulsalami, in a riposte, said Trump’s comments posed a “grave threat to the country’s hard-won unity.”
He said: “Unity, wisdom, and diplomacy must take precedence over division and pride at this critical moment.”

He said there was a need for strategic dialogue with Trump to address the issues and de-escalate the situation.
