A new covenant, By Pastor Charity Odeyemi*

There are principles by which Christianity works. You can not break these principles and prosper or obey these principles and surfer. Making Covenant is one of these principles that every Christian must understand if you want to move forward in life.
Psalms 50:5 “Gather My saints together to Me, those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”
God respects your relationship with Him when it is based on covenant. Therefore, covenants attract God’s favour, help and support. Covenant is very important when facing a difficult task or beginning a new thing. This was what Noah and Abraham understood and practiced that attracted God help to them. As we begin a new year, you need to make covenant with God. Covenant combines your infinitesimally small ability with God’s unlimited power to achieve your goals. If you make covenant with God as you begin the year, your are actually bringing God’s power or involving God in your pursuit.
God is very interested in increase in your spiritual life, business, career, connections, finances, etc., covenant with Him will help you to engage His power for all round increase. Noah understood that God is interested in His entire life, and this caused him to make a covenant with God. Genesis 8:15-21
“Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar”.
God never asked him to build an altar for Him, yet he did. Let’s see the outcome of his commitment to God in verse 21
” And when the LORD smelled the pleasing aroma, the LORD said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done”.
When you are beginning a new task or facing what is beyond your ability, you seek God and make a commitment with Him. At this point, it is paramount for you to understand what Covenant is.
Covenant is a spiritual agreement between two or more person’s to do or to refrain to do. This year, you must make a covenant with the Lord:
♦️ Covenant to serve God
♦️ Covenant to obey God
♦️ Covenant to depend on God for all things
♦️ Covenant to walk with God
Joshua made a decision on behalf of himself and his household in Joshua 24:15 to serve the Lord.
There are two sides to covenant, the part of God fulfilling His Words in your life and the part of you obeying and following Him wholeheartedly. Abraham built an altar for the Lord, he did this following God wholeheartedly, Genesis 12:1-7.
The smartest thing to do in 2024 is to allow God to take full control of your life. This means you are fulfilling your own side of the covenant. Make decision to walk with God all through this year and beyond and you will see His mighty manifestation in all phases of your life.
