2nd Wave: NCDC confirms 1,133 new COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Wednesday, announced 1,133 new cases of COVID-19 infections in the country.

The health agency disclosed that Lagos had the highest record of the fresh cases with-397, FCT-357, Kaduna-81, Plateau-63, Katsina-46, Sokoto-32, Oyo-28, Ogun-21, Kano-19, Rivers-18, Osun-13, Edo-12, Niger-12, Bayelsa-11, Borno-11, Bauchi-8, Jigawa-2 and Ondo-2.

The agency said five deaths occurred in the country in the last 24 hours, as the fatality figure increased from 1,231 on Tuesday to 1,236 on Wednesday.

The data from the agency disclosed that 395 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours as the figure of discharged cases stood at 69,274 while 10,412 cases were still active in the country.

NCDC explained that the discharges on Wednesday included 134 community recoveries in Lagos State and 96 community discharges in the FCT managed in line with guidelines.
