Wike, Diri, Ewhrudjakpo, others receive BMNA award

Bayelsa Media Network Award, BMNA has conferred on Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, the ‘’Best Governor’’ award.

He was adjudged to be the Governor of the Year with his massive infrastructural and human capacity development.

The organisation also honoured the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, with the award of ”Quintessential Epitome of Humility, Integrity and Good Leadership,’’ while Mrs. Gloria Diri was honoured as the ‘Quintessential Symbol of Hope for the Girl Child and Women.’’

Bayelsa Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, was honoured with the award of the ”Public Servant of the Year’’ in the state.

The award ceremony whic was held at the Siseli Ernest Ikoli Press Centre of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, secretariat, Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, saw the Rivers state governor honoured particularly for the upliftment in the standard of living of his state.

He was also praised for his giant strides in infrastructure, good governance and his doggedness in avowed crusade against injustices and lack of transparency in governance, among other indices considered.

Gov. Wike was represented by the Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers state, Evangelist Hope Ikiriko, who also honoured at the event with the ‘’Best Performing Local Government Chairman” in the South – South geopolitical zone of the country.

Governor Wike applauded the organisers of the BMNA for honouring him, adding that the award would spur him to continue doing more in uplifting, not only the people of Rivers state, but entire Niger Delta region in particular.

Evang. Hope Ikiriko posited that the unique award which he did not solicit for would also spur him to do more for his people at the grassroot and promised not to rest.

According to the organisers, a total of 42 distinguished personalities were honoured in their chosen endeavours, including the Amanyanabo of Opu Nembe, King Josiah Biobelemonye.

Speaking earlier, the Project Manager, Blessing Ozegbe said, the award was meant to celebrate excellence, innovations, skills, acumen, ingenuity, expertise and philanthropy of men and women doing their best to better humanity and society at large.

He averred that the motive behind the awards were to recognise Nigerians who have excelled in their fields of endeavour and impacted on humanity.
