The Comrade Lucky Osesua-led National leadership of Petroleum Tanker Drivers [PTD] Branch of NUPENG has debunked the remarks recently made by some critics including NUPENG purporting that the group was a hoax, faceless and does not speak for the Union.
A statement signed on Monday by Comrade (Dr) Humble Obinna Power, Pioneer Executive Chairman, PTD Branch of NUPENG, SOBAZ Unit, Calabar gave more valuable insights about the dispute, while also setting the record straight for posterity.
According to him several stakeholders who wanted the progress of PTD tried to mediate towards a peaceful resolution of the crisis rocking the PTD Branch of NUPENG but the leadership of NUPENG has been averse to all the peace deals and reconciliatory efforts that were brought forward. Most recently was the move by the 3-man NUPENG Elders Consultative Forum’s Reconciliation Committee, which subsequently turned out to be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
He also took time to scold one Tony Oha, who has been making incendiary and inciting comments on social media to feed the public with falsehoods and propaganda about the highly sensitive industrial rift.
Obinna as well affirmed that there were several pressure groups, elders and stakeholders across the country within and outside PTD circle who have passed a resounding vote of no confidence in the National leadership of NUPENG, some of whom were not even known to his faction but admitted that such move served the Union right.
The SOBAZ Unit Leader further disclosed that the arrogance, brash, belligerence and non-inclusive nature of its parent body had stirred a series of tirade exchanges between his faction of the Union and the real imposter which is the Augustine Egbon faction.
He also took the pain to give account of reciprocal accusations and litigations being exchanged over who legitimately represents the embattled PTD Branch in the last two years.
However, Obinna maintained that the Osesua side remained the recognised group, adding that such unfettered reality had never been vacated by any Court.
He added that his group is undeterred and will continue in the path of peace within the framework of legal process, unlike NUPENG, which always reverts to self-help and abuse of court rulings.

“The worst kind of deception on earth is SELF DECEPTION. The Bible in Hosea 4:6 says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”
“Ignorance is worse than HIV, stage 4 cancer, or any terminal disease you can think about.
“Before the Election that brought the PTD Branch into crisis, major stakeholders chartered a private jet, flew to Ibadan and pleaded with emeritus National Chairman of PTD Branch, Baba Oladiti to mediate and bring peace to PTD and not to discard Comrades Lucky Osesua, Dayyabu Garga, Onwa and other National Executives who were elected on the 30th of June 2022 at Ibadan; he assured them that he will do the needful, but went ahead to do what was on his mind. hence, trouble erupted afterwards, and all hell was let loose.
“Seven months later: May 29th, 2024, to be precise, both elections conducted in Abuja and Ibadan on 31st October 2023 were nullified by the National Industrial Court Abuja, presided over by Hon. Justice Anuwe, and the crisis rocking the National leadership of the PTD Branch of NUPENG took a different twist. The judgment ordered NUPENG to conduct a fresh election and that the election should be ALL INCLUSIVE AND NON-DISCRIMINATORY ON ANY ACCOUNT. That means all the factions shall come together for a conduct of free, fair and acceptable election for PTD Branch of NUPENG. Wise men and major stakeholders in the petroleum industry including Alhaji Aliko Dangote that they are persecuting demonizing today intervened and counselled NUPENG to call for a truce and bring everybody together and resolve the crisis; but they failed to listen and went ahead and conducted a selective and kangaroo elections in Lagos on 3rd of July 2024, intentionally and vehemently excluding everybody who is under the Comrade Lucky Osesua faction. For instance, while the faction of NUPENG-Oladiti were allowed to campaign for the selective election those under Osesua faction were notified of the election 48 hours to 3rd July 2024. I personally was notified 48 hours to the election. I have video evidence of it.
Further to see peaceful resolution, Alhaji Aliko Dangote after the Refinery was commissioned by former President Muhammadu Buhari, made several appeals to NUPENG leadership, and advised them to put their house in order: these appeals were published in several National dailies; but guess what NUPENG overzealous General Secretary’s response was: he said “THERE WAS NO DIVISION IN THE UNION”.

“So, the questions are, if there is no division, what did we go to do at NPF Zone 6 headquarters Calabar? What did we go to do at the Commissioner of Police Cross River, and Rivers States’ Command? What took the two factions to the office of the State Directors of DSS Cross River and Rivers States Command, the headquarters in Abuja, and the Assistant Director Lagos State Command? What took us to the FCT Police Command? Please can you tell us what we went to do at the NPF FCIID in Abuja? What took us before the Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 2 on Nov 2nd, 2023? Please tell us and the entire world why are we in court? Is it NUPENG and taxi drivers that are in court or NUPENG and members of the PTD Branch?
There is no division you claim: why did the NUPENG Elders Consultative Forum headed by former NUPENG President and serving House of Representatives member the highly respected Rt. Hon. Peter Akpatason set up the 3-man Reconciliation Committee? Was it to share land in your village, Tony Oha?
Why did we go to National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Yenagoa Division? Tony Oha and his ilk neither visited any of these places mentioned nor involved in any reconciliatory discussions mentioned, since the crisis erupted two years ago, but I (Humble) was part of them all.
Why did NUPENG leadership refused to honour the invitation to dialogue at the Ministry of Labour and Employment when the two factions were invited? Why is NUPENG leadership refusing and vehemently rejecting the advice to bring all aggrieved members together and resolve the issues?
“Those putting a demarcation between original PTD and fake PTD, are you denying the fact that there is a faction of PTD fighting for the emancipation of the soul of the Union from vampires who have turned the Union into their personal enterprise?
“Are you not aware that there is a matter pending before Hon. Justice Anuwe of the National Industrial Court Abuja, challenging the Kangaroo and selective election of 3rd July 2024 in Lagos which was completely and totally against the judgment of the Honourable Court? The said matter is coming up on Tuesday 30th September 2025.

Further, none of the Defendants in the case ever engaged in a fight or other alleged criminal offences against the person of NUPENG President or any other person whatsoever, howsoever.

After serving the PTD Branch for Eight (8) years as the Bye-Law allowed him, yet he is not satisfied but bent on destroying the Branch.
“The man in Ibadan inaugurated almost 18 Units in Lagos and your ceremonial National Chairman was not aware: he wasn’t even informed. CHAIII…THERE IS GOD OOOO!
“Who goes with the NUPENG President and General Secretary to top functions, meetings, and negotiations as PTD National Chairman? It is the man in Ibadan, Baba Oladiti and not Augustine Egbon.
“Who dictates the tune of how the Union is run? Who pilots the affairs of the Union? Who collects and receives all revenues accruable to the Union? Who is all the revenues sent to? Answer: The Ibadan National Trustee of NUPENG, and the Ibadan General Secretary of NUPENG: that is persons under the control of the Ibadan mafia, not Augustine Egbon, not even Williams Akporeha. Is that not a shame?
“The earlier we tell ourselves the truth that NUPENG leadership has hijacked our Branch for their selfish gains; and the earlier we join our hands together to take back our Branch, and stop deceiving ourselves, the better for us.
“And as for all of you stooges and surrogates who like Esau is selling your birthright for a plate of porridge and defending this evil, injustice and wickedness being perpetrated by NUPENG leadership against your brothers and fellow Comrades; let me remind you that you are sowing a seed, and the harvest is always greater than the seed. So, patiently wait for your reward of greater and bountiful harvests of evil, injustice, and wickedness upon yourselves.
“I don’t know what they offered you, but they offered some of us much more than whatever you think you’re enjoying now, but we decided like Esther that if we perish, we perish: we rejected the devils and their evil offer.
