We should not relent in developing Oyo State in 2021, says Adeduntan

The Osi Bashorun Of Ibadanland and 2023 Oyo State governorship hopeful, Chief Dr Azeez Popoola Adeduntan on Thursday called on Nigerians and the people of the state to use the new year to renew their commitment to collective prosperity, growth and development by adding more to nation building and shunning all forms of negative tendencies.

According to a statement from his Media Office, which was made available to The Conclave, Adeduntan expressed optimism that the coming year would be fulfilling “if governments at all levels make the people the centre point of their policies and programmes despite the challenges faced in the outgoing 2020.”

Adeduntan, who is the 2020 South Western Nigeria Excellence /Heroes Award recipient, said Nigerians’ unique strengths and characters to overcome challenges collectively had never been in doubt, and what the nation needed was to galvanise these unique qualities for the good of all as permissible under a democratic set up.

The Ibadan-born grassroots politician acknowledged the resilience and perseverance of citizens in the midst of socio-economic and political difficulties occasioned by the COVID -19 pandemic and the consequences of EndSARS, urging them to reignite their undying spirit and enter 2021 with vigor and hope.

He said, “I think the period of blame-game should be over by now in Oyo state and the Seyi Makinde led administration should give the people of the state a purposeful leadership and deliver the dividends of Democracy to the people.”

Adeduntan, who is also the Director, Adeduntan Cardiovascular and Diagnostic centre (ACDC) in Ibadan Nigeria, urged Nigerians to continue to demonstrate love and exhibit compassion towards one another and extend hands of support to the less-privileged and vulnerable members of the society.

“As a people, we must continue to imbibe the spirit of togetherness and love for one another. We must also support governments at all levels by contributing our quota in the generation of wealth and alleviation of poverty in the land,” he said.

Adeduntan, Fellow of American College of Surgeons (FACS), and Fellow International College of Surgeons (FICS), USA section,called on governments and citizens alike to brace up to the challenges of nationhood and work harmoniously to make 2021 a year of fulfillment.

The President and Chief Executive Officer, as well as Medical Director of RILGA LLC- a professional corporation in the USA, said he wished all and sundry well.

He specifically stated: “On behalf of myself, my family and my supporters across the state, I wish President Buhari,my father-the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Oguguniso the 1st, his Olori, the Olubadan in Council,the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oyewunmi Ajagungbade, the Aseyin of Iseyin, Okere of Saki and all traditional rulers in the state as well as the entire people of the state, and Nigerians a prosperous 2021.”
