A luminous epoch in highlife music and musical act has ended with the passing of Sir Victor Uwaifo of the “Guitar Boy” fame. He was aged 80.
Uwaifo, according to legend, might have referred to himself in his famous lines: “Guitar Boy, if you see mammy water o; never, never you runaway; never run away, Victor Uwaifo.”
He was prodigiously dexterous with the Guitar and his voice was sonorous and delightful to his listeners.
Although Uwaifo did not show any sign of cowardice in matters concerning mammy water (water spirit), yet his bravery has surrendered to the dictate of the Almighty God who simply said: “My son, Victor, your time is up. Come home.”
This scenario can only be validated on the basis of the verity of the report doing the rounds that the highlife maestro has answered the ultimate call.
He reportedly died today, Saturday, August 28, 2021, according to a report published by ChrisOsa Media, in which he quoted a post seen by Uwaifo Power The Rock, a close associate of the Joromi crooner.
The report said that Uwaifo Power The Rock posted:
“Daddy whyyyyyyyyyy did you leave us now? Prof sir Victor UWAIFO has gone to rest
“Black Saturday for me nooow.
“One week now after collaborating with me”
As at the time of their report, Chris Osa Media stated that they were unable to confirm the cause of his death.
