The Kano State Censorship Board has suspended Kannywood actors Amina Uba Hassan and Adam Garba for one year, banning them from all film-related activities in the state over a video deemed to contain immoral content.
The board said the suspension took effect Sunday and was aimed at promoting discipline, upholding societal values, and ensuring compliance with regulations guiding film production in Kano.
Board spokesperson Abdullahi Sulaiman said the actors were sanctioned after featuring in a video that sparked controversy among residents for alleged indecent content.
Executive Secretary Abba El-Mustapha urged actors to avoid actions that could damage their reputation or bring disrepute to the Kannywood industry. He also directed producers and directors to comply fully with the suspension, warning that disregard would violate board regulations.
The Kano State Censorship Board was established in 2022 to regulate, monitor and censor films, music, publications and entertainment content in the state.
