Vehicles donated by Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata belong to the Labour Party- Campaign Organisation

[Press Release] The attention of the Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata Campaign Organization has been drawn to a poorly-conceived and incoherent commentary issued by a faceless hack, alleging mischief and criminal intent, as regards giant steps taken by Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata, to reinforce the Party’s existing state-wide structure, preparatory to the 2024 Gubernatorial Election in Edo State.

We state for the records that this spurious claim is entirely false and disconnected from reality. We counsel the originators of this irresponsible and unintelligent rumour to, at the very least, always endeavour to undertake the most basic inquiry before embarking on any voyage of conspiracy theorising.

These rabble-rousers need not dig too deep, to establish that Olumide Akpata has, in fact, transferred title to all twenty-one vehicles purchased and donated to the Labour Party in Edo State. All twenty-one vehicles now legally belong to Labour Party, Edo State, and not Olumide Akpata. Therefore, the ludicrous suggestion that Olumide Akpata will take back any of the donated vehicles if he fails to win the Party’s nomination as its gubernatorial candidate amounts to nothing other than cheap and idle blackmail.

Indeed, it is infantile and malicious to draw any conclusions regarding ownership of the vehicles by merely relying on documents procured at the point of purchase and indeed registration of the said vehicles. We urge any party member interested in determining the true ownership of the aforementioned vehicles to simply verify the same from the State Secretariat.

The simple truth is that these ne’er-do-wells and agents of discord were never really interested in the facts of this issue. Their sole objective is to detract from the monumental strides being taken by Olumide Akpata to fulfil his promise to BUILD THE PARTY and strengthen its structure today and in the foreseeable future.

We reiterate that Olumide Akpata’s contributions towards BUILDING THE PARTY are by no means easy, yet they are necessary to bolster the party and position us for near – and long-term success. He made huge contributions to the campaigns of majority of our candidates at the September 2023 local government elections; donated a brand-new Toyota Hiace Bus to the State Secretariat for Party operations and made a significant pledge towards the purchase of a new and befitting State Secretariat, as well as; visited all eighteen local government Secretariats, where he made further substantial contributions to all the said Secretariats and all 192 Party Wards.

Following said visit to the eighteen LGA Secretariats, Olumide Akpata noted three paramount operational deficiencies and has taken bold steps to resolve each of these to wit:

• He has now donated twenty new vehicles to provide mobility for each of our eighteen LGAs as well as two additional vehicles for the State Secretariat

• He has ordered 26,000 plastic chairs to be delivered to each ward (100/ward), LGA (300/LGA), and the State Secretariat (1000 Nos.)

• He has also ordered 230 state-of-the-art digital wireless public address systems to be distributed to each Ward, LGA, as well as the State Secretariat.

By all accounts, these are exemplary initiatives being taken to BUILD THE PARTY. We encourage other aspirants and party faithful to roll-up their sleeves and contribute their own quota in any small or substantial way, to the overall growth of the Party, rather than engage in unguarded, irresponsible and unprofitable chatter.

We recognise that this puerile and unwarranted attack stems from an old way of politicking that seeks to exploit our people rather than improve their commonwealth. We also know that these charlatans and their sponsors are finding it difficult to process the idea of anyone giving so generously to the Party and/or its members without any strings attached, and so can only resort to spinning countless webs of outlandish conspiracy theories and outright lies, rather than contemplate what they can also contribute to BUILDING THE PARTY. Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata is not cut from this worn and tattered cloth. He is only interested in building and liberating our people, who have endured decades of untold hardship, from self-centered leadership.

As our anthem suggests, we all have a party to build, we have critical elections to win – that will define the future of our party, and we have a failing nation to rescue. Let us put aside unnecessary animosity and bickering that undermines our unity and collective aspirations, leverage our strengths and resources to secure Dennis Osadebey Avenue and deliver good governance to the long-suffering people of Edo State and indeed Nigeria.
