[Updated]: CBN Deputy Gov. Obiora released after Special Investigators’ questioning

The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in charge of Economic Policy, Dr Kingsley Obiora, has been released after his interrogation by the Special Investigations Panel set up to probe the CBN and allied entities.

There was an initial report of his release by the Department of State Services [DSS] earlier on Saturday.

Obiora was later reportedly invited by the Special Investigations Panel on Wednesday for questioning on the activities of the apex bank under the suspended Gov. Godwin Emefiele.

The Jim Obazee-led special panel had been questioning the acting CBN governor,, deputy governors, as well as other senior officials of the bank as part of the ongoing audit.

Obiora was released after the panel had finished the preliminary interrogation with him as like other CBN governors and the acting Gov Sokunbi Folashodun.

Sa’adatu Ramalan Yero and the NIRSAL CEO, Abbas Masanawa, had earlier been released.

Obiora is reportedly being pressured to testify as a prosecution witness against Emefiele.
