The management of the University of Benin has refuted the report in social media that the septic tank in Hall 1 Hostel on the school premises has been leaking, posing health challenges among students.
A top management staff member of the University said in Benin City that the negative story was sponsored to discredit the soaring records and unblemished reputation of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Lilian Salami over the last four years.
“There is no soak away in block E. Moreover, none within the hostel. They are all located outside the fence of the hostel.
“What the writer probably claimed to be a soak away is a non functional underground tank located at the front of the block as indicated in the pictures you took yourself here”, the staff told our reporter.
Findings by our Correspondent in the University of Benin are at variance with the mischievous report designed to give a bad name to the university and the celebrated Vice Chancellor all over the world a few years ago.
Students at the said Hall 1 Hostel interviewed by our Correspondent denied the existence of any leaking soak away in and around the University premises, “saying it is the hand work of faceless charlatans who are envious of the unmatched achievements in the University under the stewardship of the Vice Chancellor.
“This is the handwork of incurable pessimists whose relentless effects to de-market the performing Vice Chancellor have been proving negative.
“Ours, as students, is to continue to remind the traducers of the Vice Chancellor and the instituction’s management to remain focused and ignore enemies of positive and resounding developments that have taken place in the University.
