Christians have been urged to put aside pride, arrogance, and complacency in the work of evangelism, with a reminder that soul winning remains the core essence of the Christian faith and humanity’s existence on earth.

This charge was given by President of the Youth Fellowship,United Evangelical Church, Gabriel James, during the week-long Youth Fellowship evangelism programme of the United Evangelical Church National Worship Center, where he emphasized the importance of reconciliation, redemption and intentional commitment to spreading the gospel of Christ.

Addressing the congregation during the outreach programme, James said believers must approach evangelism with humility, compassion and sincerity, stressing that pride and arrogance have no place in the business of winning souls for God.

According to him, God’s love for humanity was demonstrated through the ultimate sacrifice of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, whose death brought reconciliation and redemption to mankind.

He explained that the sacrifice of Christ remains the greatest expression of love ever shown to humanity and cannot be compared with any earthly offering or material possession.

Drawing references from the Book of Genesis, James described the creation of man as uniquely significant, noting that humanity occupies a special place in God’s heart. He said while God created every other thing by command, the creation of man came with divine consultation, as God declared, “Let us make man in our image.”

He said this singular act reveals the depth of God’s affection, attention and value for mankind, despite humanity’s repeated failure to live according to divine instructions and precepts.

“God’s love for man is immeasurable,” he stated, adding that heaven rejoices greatly over the repentance of a single sinner because of how precious every soul is before God.

He further questioned why God continues to care so deeply for humanity despite man’s shortcomings, concluding that only God truly understands the value He has placed on human life.

The minister warned that Christianity without evangelism amounts to living below divine expectation, insisting that every believer who bears the identity of Christ must become actively involved in soul winning and kingdom advancement.

He encouraged Christians to intentionally preach the message of Christ’s persecution, suffering, betrayal and eventual death for the salvation of mankind, stressing that believers must see evangelism as both a responsibility and a lifestyle.

James urged the youths and the wider Christian community to live in a way that brings joy to heaven through their commitment to leading souls to God.

He noted that every act of evangelism contributes to the expansion of God’s kingdom and serves as evidence of gratitude for the sacrifice Christ made for humanity.

The week-long evangelism programme featured prayer sessions, community outreach, gospel teachings and spiritual engagements aimed at strengthening the faith of young believers and encouraging active participation in Christian service and evangelism.
