Says teamwork key to blessings, eternal life

By JOHN D. WADA, Lafia

The wife of the Senior Bishop of Threshing Floor Watchman Assembly, also known as Salvation City, Rev. Mary Ovye, has called on Christians to embrace unity and teamwork as a pathway to God’s blessings and eternal life.

Rev. Ovye made the call during her sermon at the church service on Sunday at the church’s headquarters in Bukan Sidi, Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

She said the call became necessary because of the numerous blessings and successes recorded whenever followers of Jesus Christ come together for a common purpose.

Citing evangelism, joint worship, visitations, and showing love to one another as examples, she noted that these are acts the Lord greatly desires from believers at all times.

“Followers of Jesus Christ should not envy one another. Instead, everyone should use the gift that God has given them to work together in order to receive the abundant rewards that come from the Lord,” she said.

Rev. Ovye stressed that no believer can make meaningful progress in life working in isolation.

“No believer can make progress in life if they work alone without their brethren,” she said, challenging members to prioritize corporate prayers and other devotions to receive the Holy Spirit.

She further urged Christians to serve God with one heart, without complaints or regard for status.

“It is through this that we will obtain eternal life,” she added.

The cleric also linked lack of progress in the lives of some believers to failure to adjust their daily lifestyle, especially in worship and service to God.

“Life becomes full of hardship and sorrow anytime believers refuse to work together, especially in worship, because God has given everyone a gift and He wants each person to use their gift appropriately,” she said.

Drawing from scripture, Rev. Ovye read from 1st Corinthians chapter 12:14, Psalm 133:1-3, and Hebrews 10:25 to buttress her message on the benefits of working together. She warned that on the day of judgment, God will ask everyone how they used the gifts He gave them.

She concluded her sermon with a special prayer for the congregation, asking God to strengthen their faith and their capacity to work together.

Earlier, the service featured prayers, praise and worship, and special testimonies from various church groups and individuals.

Threshing Floor Watchman Assembly, Salvation City, is one of the growing Pentecostal churches in Lafia with a focus on prayer, evangelism and community outreach.
