As preparations intensify for the 65th anniversary celebration of the United Evangelical Church (UEC), founded as Qua Iboe Church, Ungwar Shanu, now at Challawa Worship Centre in Kaduna, members of the church have been urged to unite and support an ambitious plan to construct a modern Metropolitan Worship CCenre

The call was made by Emmah Uhieneh Adah, Lead of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the church’s 65th anniversary, who emphasised the importance of unity, organisation, and collective action among members as the church charts a new course for growth and development.

According to Adah, the church’s milestone anniversary provides a timely opportunity for members to reconnect, strengthen relationships, and work together toward addressing the challenges and opportunities currently before the local assembly.

“Our focus as we continue to strategize, connect, and organize ourselves should be unity of purpose,” Adah noted, stressing that collective commitment will be crucial to the success of the church’s future initiatives.

Founded more than six decades ago, as Qua Iboe Church,in Ungwan-Shanu,the UEC Challawa Worship Center has played a central role in the spiritual lives of many families. Over the years, it has served as a place where generations of worshippers were born into the faith, dedicated to the Lord, baptized, married, and later returned to dedicate their own children.

Adah noted that the altar of the assembly has been a place where prayers and blessings have been spoken over countless lives during key moments of members christian journey. These spiritual encounters, he said, have helped shape their faith and personal development.

For many members, the church represents their first spiritual home and the foundation of their Christian growth. Through worship, teaching, and fellowship, the local assembly has strengthened believers’ faith while equipping them with the spiritual and moral guidance needed to navigate life beyond the church environment, Adah added.

Looking ahead, the leadership of the church is pursuing the construction of a 21st-century Metropolitan Worship Center, a development expected to enhance the church’s facilities and expand its capacity to serve a growing congregation and community.

Adah described the initiative as a noble opportunity for members to give back to the church that has contributed significantly to their spiritual formation and life journeys.

He encouraged members to come together promptly to discuss and agree on practical ways to support the vision, noting that early commitment and cooperation will be essential to achieving the ambitious project.

With the church celebrating 65 years of faith, service, and community impact, leaders and members believe the proposed Metropolitan Worship Center will stand as a lasting legacy of unity, gratitude, and continued spiritual growth for generations to come.
