Two female workers drown while bathing after shift in Kano

Tragedy struck in Gezawa, Kano State, when two female workers at a zobo processing factory drowned while bathing in a body of water after completing their shift.

The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the unfortunate incident in a statement released on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

According to the service, they received an emergency call at around 11:15 am from the local vigilante commander in Gezawa, prompting swift rescue operations.

Public Relations Officer of the Kano Fire Service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, stated that the victims had entered the water to bathe after work, a decision that ultimately led to their drowning.

Abdullahi further explained that search efforts began the previous evening after the women were reported missing, and their bodies were recovered the following day.

The victims were found unconscious and subsequently handed over to Officer Musa Garba at the Gezawa Police Division.

At the time of this report, the names of the deceased had not been disclosed.
