The Nigerian Army has reported significant successes in its counter-terrorism operations across Kaduna, Zamfara, and Abia states, showcasing its steadfast commitment to national security and citizen safety.
In Kaduna State, a two-day fighting patrol by troops in Kajuru and Kachia Local Government Areas resulted in the neutralization of five terrorists during a fierce battle at Dantarau.
The troops recovered a substantial cache of arms, including two AK-47 rifles, one fabricated submachine gun, nine AK-47 magazines, 250 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles, and two handheld radios.
This victory has significantly disrupted terrorist activities along the Maro-Enugu community axis, enhancing regional security.
In Zamfara State, troops stationed along the Gusau-Tsafe-Funtua road responded to a distress call and successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt in the Angwan Chida area of Tsafe Local Government Area.
During the rescue operation, troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce shootout, neutralizing two terrorists and rescuing four passengers from a Toyota Corolla.
The operation also led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, 31 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one motorcycle, and the vehicle involved in the attempted abduction.
In Abia State, troops conducted a successful raid on an identified IPOB/ESN enclave in Igboro Forest, Arochukwu Local Government Area.
Despite encountering three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by the terrorists, the troops recovered three locally fabricated Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs) and a locally fabricated artillery gun.
The terrorists were forced to flee under superior firepower. One soldier sustained a minor injury from shrapnel and is currently receiving medical attention.
The destruction of this camp represents a significant blow to the terrorist elements operating in the area.
