An incident involving indiscriminate gunfire by members of a hybrid security force has left a personnel and a civilian injured in Mandaragirau village, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 12:20 p.m. on April 30, when operatives attached to the 162 Amphibious Battalion allegedly fired their weapons recklessly within the community.

The shooting reportedly resulted in injuries to one member of the hybrid force and a civilian, both of whom were evacuated to a medical facility for treatment.

Sources added that the situation was swiftly contained, while the personnel responsible for the act has been arrested and is currently in custody pending further investigation.
