A female relative of a suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) member has surrendered to troops of the Nigerian Army in Borno State.
Security sources said the woman turned herself in at about 5:04 p.m. on April 30 in Dikwa Local Government Area, where troops of the 24 Task Force Brigade are deployed.
She was received by the soldiers and subsequently profiled and documented in line with standard military procedures.

According to the sources, the surrender is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to encourage defections and weaken terrorist networks in the North-East.
They added that further actions would be taken following the completion of the profiling process.
The sources also noted that military operations aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region are continuing.
