In a series of meticulously executed operations, troops from Headquarters 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with other security agencies, have successfully dismantled a criminal syndicate, apprehending 10 suspects and recovering an AK-47 rifle along with 33 rounds of ammunition.
According to Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Captain Oni Olubodunde, the operations, carried out with precision and professionalism, commenced in the early hours of July 22, 2024, targeting Galeri and Kwondo Villages in Ardo-Kola and Bali Local Government Areas.
Acting on a credible tip-off, the swift and coordinated response by the 6 Brigade troops resulted in the arrest of two suspects, Ali Ibrahim aka Yellow and Wetti Alhaji Ibrahim.
Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle and three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The suspects confessed to collaborating with a notorious terrorist leader, Kadogo Fun, active in Plateau State.
He said the suspects disclosed their involvement with mercenary activities for other terrorist groups across Plateau, Adamawa, and Taraba States.
Additionally, a covert intelligence-led operation targeting incessant attacks and kidnappings in Southern Taraba State led to the arrest of eight more suspects: Emmanuel Michael aka Assay, Gabriel Samuel aka Badoo, Fidelis Lumu Utuna, Edward Ochan, John Orhenbaga, Desmond Agbo, Thomas Ikyar, and Shafiu Shaibu aka Odogwu. Preliminary investigations indicated that the gang leader was affiliated with the late Terwase Akwaza aka Gana’s gang. Recovered items included 10 military camouflage uniforms, 60,000 Naira, and 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.



Captain Olubodunde added that the suspects were in custody and will be handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He said the success of these operations underscoresd the effective collaboration between the Brigade and the local populace.
The Brigade called on the people of Taraba State to continue supporting security agencies in their efforts to ensure lasting peace and security in the region and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to contribute to a safer Taraba State.
