The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has declared Monday, 2nd of May, 2022 as the 1st of Shawwal, which means the much anticipated Eid-el-fitr will be celebrated on the same day, not tomorrow, Sunday, May 1.
The kingdom, via one of its verified twitter handles @haramainInfo said the declaration was as a result of not sighting the Crescent for the new moon on Saturday.
The tweet reads: “Crescent has NOT been sighted in Saudi Arabia. #EidAlFitr will be celebrated on Monday, 2nd May, 2022. In shā Allāh
“May Allāh ﷻ allow us to utilise the remaining moments of this blessed month to engage in that which pleases Him and may He accept our siyām, qiyām & a’māl. Āmīn.”
The Nigerian Muslims await the announcement by their religious leader, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaj Dr Sa’d Abubakar for an update on the religious festivity. (Greenbarge Reporters)
