President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to Kebbi State on Wednesday to commiserate with the state government and the families of schoolgirls abducted by bandits in Maga community.

The Vice President is also expected to assure parents and guardians that the Federal Government is committed to securing the girls’ safe and swift release.

The President expressed deep sadness over the abduction, noting that it occurred despite intelligence warnings about a possible attack.

He commended Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for efforts taken to prevent the kidnapping and urged communities in security-prone areas to cooperate with security agencies by sharing timely information.

“As Commander-in-Chief, I am depressed by the tragic loss of our officers and soldiers on active duty.

“May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and our other fallen heroes,” he said.

He decried the disruption of the girls’ education, describing the attackers as “heartless terrorists,” and ordered security agencies to move swiftly to rescue the abducted students.

Tinubu reiterated that security agencies cannot succeed without the cooperation of citizens and local communities, urging Nigerians to provide intelligence that can aid operations in vulnerable areas.
