President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors to Nigerian missions across the world, including 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career ambassadors.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Friday, March 6, 2026, noting that the appointments follow the Senate’s confirmation of the nominees in December 2025.
Among the prominent non-career appointees are the former senator representing Ondo South, Jimoh Ibrahim, who has been posted as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations; former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, assigned to Mexico; former Abia State Governor, Victor Ikpeazu, deployed to Spain; former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, posted to Qatar; and former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, assigned to Germany.
