President Bola Tinubu celebrated Information Minister Mohammed Idris Malagi on his 60th birthday, calling him an “excellent communicator” who has brought “finesse, credibility, and gravitas” to the administration’s public messaging.
In a statement issued May 1, 2026, Tinubu praised Idris for his “diligence, brilliance and doggedness” in pushing the government’s Renewed Hope agenda.
The president said: “His reputation precedes him,” pointing to Idris’s run as founder and publisher of Blueprint Newspapers and chairman of a “successful public relations consultancy and broadcast media outfit.”
Tinubu also highlighted Idris’s tenure as general secretary of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria, calling it proof of his role as “a patriot and valued partner in nation-building.”
According to Tinubu, “Since his appointment as Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris has led the charge on communicating federal policies and programmes.”
Tinubu commended him for being “steadfast in disseminating the message of Renewed Hope throughout the nation.”
“I encourage him to keep up the good work,” Tinubu added.
“As Mohammed celebrates this milestone birthday, I join his family and friends in wishing him more years of good health and strength as he continues to serve the nation,” the President said.
Idris turns 60 on May 2, 2026.
