Tinubu boasts: “I’m still Asiwaju of Lagos, Jagaban of Borgu”; speaks on Lekki shootings ( plus video)

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday emerged from hibernation, laughing to scorn those behind  the rumours doing the round that he had either escaped to France or London.

He declared, in an interview with journalists and in response to a specific question on his whereabouts since the Tuesday night shootings of #EndSARS protesters by soldiers at the Lekki Tollgate,  that he had been in Lagos.

Tinubu, who spoke during a visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the State House in Marina, boasted gleefully “I am still the Asiwaju of Lagos. I am still the Jagaban (of Borgu)”

He told journalists that he came to meet minds with Governor Sanwo-Olu over the Lekki Tollgate incident and to ask him if he ordered soldiers to attack #EndSARS protesters at the toll gate on Tuesday.

From his response to questions, it was evident that the governor did not order soldiers, stressing “if he didn’t order the attack, who ordered the attack? That’s all I needed from him.”

Tinubu stated: “First, we have to segregate the calendar – those who suffered casualty before the protests from the hands of SARS.

“You have to separate that from those who suffered casualty due to what happened at the toll gate.

“For those who suffered casualty from SARS, the Commission of Inquiry that is already set up will unearth that and will make their recommendations.

“I trust the calibre and the character of the people there, they are independent…Casualties of Lekki Shootings have some questions to answer; how are they there? How long were they there? What kind of characters are they?”

“I’m still the Asiwaju and Jagaban of (in) Lagos…whatever they think, fake news is all over the place. They said Seyi my son was kidnapped. He is here (pulling him by the hand). It is all a joke.”
