Having successfully hosted and coordinated the presentation of the 2024 appropriation bill (budget) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the joint session of the National Assembly, staff members have again spared some time to appraise the performance of the Clerk to the National Assembly, CNA, Sani Magaji Tambuwal in office.

Recall that Tambuwal guided the joint session of the Senate and the House of Representatives through the presentation process on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

In a random population sampling of staff members, who answered an administered questionnaire, which aimed to assess his perception among the internal public in the National Assembly, the CNA received 90 per cent approval.

Of the 30 question, 27 responses rated the CNA highly on the perception question, ticking all the boxes in sharpy focused leadership, commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of workers, creating enabling environment for productive engagements, robust management-staff relationship, transparency and accountability in leadership.

The remaining three respondents did not tick all the boxes in his favour, their responses were assessed to be between 80 per cent and 90 per cent.

From the overall responses of the staff members interviewed, the common denominator is that Tambuwal’s leadership has remained sharply focused on delivering the mandates of his office as well as the concomitant benefits therefore to members of the National Assembly and the staff members.

From their responses, it was agreed that a year after in office, the Clerk to the National Assembly has demonstrated immense zeal and determination to reposition NASS in the most positive way possible and within the limits of available resources.

Fifteen of the thirty respondents made reference to the eight new buses just procured by the CNA to ease movement of staff members to and from the office in the aftermath of the removal of fuel subsidy and the increase in the pump price of fuel.

Twenty made reference to the payment of the 35,000 palliative as directed by President Tinubu. Management of the National Assembly under the Sani Magaji Tambuwal leadership started this payment effective, September, and this act of promptness and pragmatism,staff members’ have applauded the most.

THE CONCLAVE reports that the workers have taken notice of Tambuwal’s desire to reposition the administrative wing of the National Assembly.

Already, the atmospherics and the nuances of the complex have become much more animated, even as staff members have become much more purposeful, knowing full well that their good efforts would be rewarded by a caring leadership in the saddle.

The proclivity toward optimum performance is quite evident. The CNA, from the processed responses have displayed a high sense of mutual respect for his bosses and subordinates through constant dialogues and consultations.

Tambuwal was applauded for successfully conducting the induction for new members of the 10th National Assembly and working efficiently to consummate the inauguration of the Assembly.

As a team player, eight of the respondents underscored this quality, he has been able to provide strong leadership as an exemplar for other top management staff members.

THE CONCLAVE reports that the CNA continues to remain sharply focused on delivering a purposeful and decisive leadership, as largely referenced by the respondents.

The CNA, as independently observed by a team of reporters of this medium covering the National Assembly, continuously amazes the National Assembly internal public with his easy-going attitude and his quiet mien.

Without throwing his weight around as the accounting officer in the running of the assembly, he has so far achieved with so much success and remarkable milestones.

THE CONCLAVE gathered that the CNA has perfected plans for the payment of severance package of members of 9th assembly. A source confirmed that the payment had commenced in earnest.

He said; “I can confirm to you that Senators and House of Representatives members (in the 9th assembly) have started receiving their severance packages in accordance.”

According to him: “Aides are also expected to start getting theirs any moment from now. This commendable effort by the CNA is to ensure that no one is denied their rightful benefits.”
