Tragedy struck at Molete area of Ibadan on Sunday when a tanker loaded with gas lost control and overran traders at Bode Market.
The tanker, according to a report by The Whistler, crushed 10 persons and injured several others.
The truck was reportedly heading towards Molete area when it had brake failure and lost control around Idi Arere.
The driver was said to have tried in vain to bring the vehicle to a halt but it swerved into the market where it ran over some traders.
A resident of the area said that security agents and fire fighters arrived at the scene shortly after the accident.
The report said that as of the time of filing the report, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached for comment on the accident.
It stated that the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Uche Chukwurah, could also not be reached.
