The Bayelsa State Government has directed civil servants to strictly observe work ethic and punctuality, warning that defaulters will face sanctions.
Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Mr. Perekiye Buruboyefe, issued the warning on Wednesday, during a joint compliance monitoring tour of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) alongside the Office of the Head of Service.

Buruboyefe expressed concern over widespread late coming and non-compliance with service rules, stressing that such behaviour would no longer be tolerated.
“Officers found wanting will be appropriately sanctioned,” he said, urging all civil servants to study and adhere to the Public Service Rules for greater professionalism and accountability.
The Head of Service, Dr. Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer, mni, reinforced the directive, declaring that government would not condone lateness and indiscipline in the workforce.
Dr. Sawyer called on workers to be punctual, dedicated and proactive in order to improve service delivery and productivity across the state.
He however assured civil servants of government’s continued commitment to their welfare, citing regular and prompt payment of salaries and pensions, timely promotions, Christmas bonuses, training programmes, improved welfare packages and capacity-building initiatives.
