The Supreme Court of Nigeria, on Thursday, 4th May 2023, asserted that Mr Douglas Ogbankwa was called to the Nigerian Bar and qualified to practise law in Nigeria.
This is a sequel to an allegation made and escalated by City Lawyers Blog that Mr Douglas Ogbankwa, former NBA publicity Secretary of Benin Branch was not called to the Nigerian Bar and was therefore unfit to practise law.
The allegation had also vitiated the basis of his membership of the Nigerian Bar Association.
The Supreme Court via a letter with reference No: SCN LIT./CN/0000210 had stated in unequivocal terms that Mr Douglas’ change of name did not affect his call to the Nigerian Bar.
The letter by the Supreme Court was signed by Henrietta Aduwak Akyang Esq., and it stated that Douglas Ogbankwa was called to bar in his former name of Douglas Aguguom and that he was one and the same person.
This development has effectively laid to rest the controversy over the sensitive issue.
It also puts the lie to the allegation being spread around by some persons whose interests remain unknown.
THE CONCLAVE reports that Douglas Ogbankwa Esq., aside from being a lawyer, has been a prolific writer of the radical genre and also a policy analyst of the very profound hue.
