Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho said he lost about N50 million worth of property in his burnt tesidence at Soka area in Ibadan.
The house was torched about 3 am on Tuesday by suspected hoodlums.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the fire incident, suspected to have been caused by arsonists, he stated that the perpetrators were cowards.
He has been in the forefront of agitations for the eviction of Fulani herdsmen from Igangan in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The quit notice was consequent upon incidents of killings, kidnappings and rape said to have been perpetrated by the Fulani herdsmen in the community.
According to him, the house attacked by the suspected hoodlums was his old residence.
“The arsonists did not have the guts to attack where I live. When the fire started, they called me and by the time I got there, the arsonists had fled.
“They are cowards. Why couldn’t they come to where I live. You would have seen evidence because they won’t escape.”
Adeyemo diemissed speculation doing the round that he was interested in being the Commander of Amotekun Corps in the State.
According to him: “I don’t seek such relevance. What I am saying is that the Fulanis herders that are terrorizing my people should leave the area.
“We want peace and that is all. I don’t need any political appointment or money from anybody. We only want peace in our area.”
Some residents who spoke to NAN on condition of anonymity, said the suspected hoodlums came in a Toyota bus and Micra car around 3 am on Tuesday.
They told NAN that the suspected hoodlums shot sporadically into the air to scare away residents before setting the house on fire. (With NAN report)
