Soldiers attack Ministry of Defence civilian staff member [+video]

A civilian staff member of the Ministry of Defence, Comrade Ambrose Akhigbe, was on Monday, June 10, 2024, assaulted by soldiers, accordong to Aluta News.

Comrade Akhigbe, the report said, was a Grade Level 15 officer.

He was said to have been brutally assaulted by a group of private soldiers supervised by Lt. Akubor.

The victim, according to the report, has been hospitalized due to the severity of the attack.

“This incident marks the second violent attack on a civil servant in just two months, following the killing of a laboratory scientist at the Naval Reference Hospital in Lagos.

“The attacks have sparked outrage and demands for reform.

“The MOD staff union is calling for a complete overhaul of the Command Schools, returning them to their original structure under the Ministry of Defence, with professional education officers at the helm.

“The union demands improved security measures and an end to the brutalization of staff.

“The union warns that they will not back down until their demands are met, fearing that another staff member may be the next victim.

“The incident has sent shockwaves through the MOD community, highlighting the need for urgent action to ensure the safety and well-being of staff [members].”
