Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to an increase in train fare for the Abuja to Kaduna service by the Federal government.
Sani, in a post on social media, described the reported hundred percent increase as unjust, unfair and condemnable
He said everywhere in the World Governments were finding ways of easing the economic hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and its attendant lockdown.
“The reported hundred percent increases in Kaduna-Abuja Train fare is unjust, unfair and condemnable.
“Everywhere in the World Governments are finding ways of easing the economic hardships caused by the Pandemic and its attendant Lockdown, its sad and tragic that the opposite is happening here,” he said.
Sani added that it was most callous and cruel that for a region of Nigeria ravaged by banditry and kidnappings, doubling train fare was the insensitive path the transportation Ministry had taken.
“First was Increase in electricity tariff, then increase in prices of petroleum and now increase in train fare; What they give at N-power and Covid-19 loan with the right hand, they are taking it back with the left hand,” Sani said.
He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and halt the soulless increase, adding that people would blame the President and not Minister Rotimi Amaechi.
