Senators, Reps-elect set for induction as NASS announces dates

The National Assembly says the first batch of induction programmes for the 10th assembly Senators-elect and Reps-elect is slated for May 7 and 8, 2023.

Ali Umoru, Secretary, Research, Information and Chairman, Sub-Committee on Media and Publicity, made this known.

The management also announced that the second batch is for May 14 and 15, 2023.

The management expressed readiness for the inauguration of Senators-elect and Reps-elect following the conclusion of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Umoru, in a press statement in Abuja, on Thursday, said the induction was a sequel to the formal release of the authentic list of Senators-elect and Reps-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

He said the induction and inauguration slated for May and June respectively were in conjunction with the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies.

According to him, the induction programmes would be held in two batches and they were scheduled to commence from May 7 to 13, 2023 with Batch A, while Batch B will hold from May 14 to 20, 2023.

Umoru said the objectives of the induction/inauguration exercise were to expose members-elect to the functions of the National Assembly, its practices and procedures as well as the services available to them.

He said: “As part of the efforts to ensure a very successful Induction/ Inauguration exercise, the management led by the Clerk to NASS, Alhaji Sani Tambuwal has constituted a Central Planning Committee (CPC) made up of all the Secretaries in the National Assembly Service.”

He said membership of the committee was also drawn from National Assembly Service Commission and NILDS.
