A former Commissioner of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Henry Omoregie Williams Idahagbon, has petitioned the Senate President, alleging that Senator Adams Oshiomhole made “reckless, false, and malicious” corruption allegations against him during a Senate confirmation hearing.
Idahagbon claimed Oshiomhole’s objections to his reappointment were based on unfounded claims of corruption in recruitment and promotion activities at the FCSC.
Idahagbon alleged that Oshiomhole’s actions were driven by personal grievances stemming from his refusal to compromise civil service recruitment processes for a candidate personally associated with Oshiomhole.
He claimed the candidate “failed the examination woefully” and that he refused to interfere with or manipulate the process, adhering to civil service rules.
Idahagbon also accused Oshiomhole of verbal abuse and intimidation, saying the senator became “visibly incensed” after his refusal to comply with the request.
The allegations have sparked concerns about the abuse of parliamentary privilege and the integrity of the Senate’s confirmation process.
Idahagbon urged the Senate to investigate the matter, compel Oshiomhole to substantiate his claims, and discourage the abuse of parliamentary privilege for personal vendettas.
The Senate will likely investigate the allegations and consider Idahagbon’s petition.
If the allegations are found to be true, it could have serious implications for Oshiomhole’s reputation and the Senate’s credibility.
On the other hand, if the allegations are deemed false, it could damage Idahagbon’s reputation and relationships with key stakeholders.
