A Jos Magistrates’ Cour on Friday sentenced a 20-year-old security guard, Muhammed Hassan, to one year in prison for stealing armoured cable and diesel.
The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Bokkos, in her judgement, gave the convict an option of fine of N50, 000 or spend one year in prison.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ahmed Labaran, told the court that the case was reported at the Angwan Rogo Police Station on Feb. 24, by Harunna Jibril, the complainant.
Labaran said the convict stole the armoured cable valued at N85, 000, and diesel worth N690, 000 before he was caught.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
