The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed plans to reduce governance costs by constructing a Multi-Agency Office Complex and EGIS Centre at the State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance on Tuesday while inspecting ongoing completion works on the Multi-Agency Complex and the Lagos Geographical Information System Centre.
He said the projects were conceived to house several government agencies within the secretariat and reduce expenses on rented office spaces across the state.
He said: “We have just finished a quick inspection of the Multi-Agency Office Complex and the EGIS building. As you can see, the Multi-Agency Complex is practically completed.
“What remains are finishing touches around the setbacks and landscaping of the environment.”
Sanwo-Olu expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded by contractors, saying the complex should be ready for use within the next few weeks.
“I am impressed with the level of work achieved. In a few weeks, contractors should complete the final clean-up of the complex,” he said.
Speaking on the LAGIS Centre, the governor described the facility as a unique structure designed to strengthen land administration in Lagos State.
“Next to the Multi-Agency Complex is the EGIS building, a unique structure that meets our requirement in interspatial and EGIS deliverables,” he said.
“It is meant to support land administration solutions, and we expect it to be ready in the next two to three weeks,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu added that the projects could be among infrastructure expected to be inaugurated during a proposed visit by President Bola Tinubu to Lagos.

“We are expecting a presidential visit, and these projects may be inspected or inaugurated during the trip.
“The dates are not yet confirmed, but we are ensuring everything is ready so we can be good hosts,” he said.
The governor said the projects aligned with his administration’s plan to reduce governance costs and improve coordination among government agencies.
“More importantly, we want to advance quality public service to our citizens.
“The environment where civil servants work and where citizens access government services is important to us as a government,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the complex occupies a 2.01-hectare site and comprises three blocks — A, B and C — with Block B rising eight floors, while Blocks A and C have five floors.
The first two floors of each block are designated for parking, while upper floors will serve as offices, with penthouses reserved for conferences.
Facilities include elevators, staircases, reception lobbies, conference rooms, central air-conditioning systems, kitchens and canteens, with parking space for more than 700 vehicles.
The complex also has a generator house, landscaped surroundings with paved walkways and covered drains, as well as perimeter fencing.
