The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Police Command in Lagos has detained two suspected traffic robbers operating in Ketu, Mile 12, and Kosofe areas.
RRS confirmed the arrests in a post on its official X handle, @rrsLagos767, on Wednesday.
The suspects, aged 33 and 37, were apprehended by RRS operatives at about 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old, an ex-convict, was released from Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre in May 2025 after serving six and a half years.
The 37-year-old suspect had reportedly been involved in multiple robberies around Ajelogo and Ketu. Operatives had been tracking his movements.
Last week, the duo and two others robbed a passer-by of ₦25,000 after he attempted to assist them with money.
After pestering the victim, the group assaulted him and fled the scene.
On Tuesday, the victim spotted the 37-year-old suspect and alerted RRS operatives, who quickly arrested both suspects.
Two other gang members escaped through Ketu Market during the operation, according to RRS.
RRS said its commander, CSP Sola Jejeloye, has reinforced patrols at Ketu and Mile 12 on the Commissioner’s directive.
Jejeloye has also ordered that the suspects be charged to court, while efforts continue to arrest the remaining gang members.
