Governor Siminalayi Fubara says the reconstruction of the Rivers State Secretariat Complex will be completed and handed over in the first quarter of 2027.

Fubara made the statement Monday after inspecting the high-rise buildings in Old GRA, Port Harcourt. He said he returned to the site to assess progress on both the exterior and interior works.

“I think that with the progress of work here, by the grace of God, I believe that by the first quarter of next year, it will be handed over to the government,” he was quoted to have said in statement issued by Onwuka Nzeshi, his Chief Press Secretary.

Built in the 1970s after Rivers State was created in 1967, the complex includes the 17-storey Point Block, 10-storey Podium Block, and three 7-storey buildings known as Blocks A, B, and C.

The ongoing upgrade involves structural rehabilitation, improved office layouts, new facilities, and upgraded utilities to meet modern administrative standards. The project aims to create a more efficient and technology-driven workspace for civil servants.
