A retired army officer was shot dead during a suspected bandit attack in Anem Village, Ikyurav-Ya, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.
Sources said the incident occurred on Feb. 8 about 5:00 p.m., when the officer, identified as Sgt. Chiayongo Jem’m, was reportedly targeted by suspected Fulani herder bandits.
“The corpse was removed by his family to an unidentified mortuary in Ikyogen,” a source said.
DPO Jato-Aka mobilised a joint patrol team to the scene and is combing nearby bushes to track the suspects and effect arrests.
