A former Clerk to the National Assembly, CNA, Dr Salisu Maikasuwa, has weighed into the crisis rocking the leadership guard of the National Assembly management as to whether or not the incumbent CNA, Architect Amos Ojo, could spend his compulsory three-month pre-retirement leave in office.
Architect Ojo, according to official reports, is scheduled to proceed on his three-month pre-retirement leave on Monday, November 14, 2022.
But sundry reports from the National Assembly Service Commission, NASC, and the National Assembly have so far indicated that Architect Ojo has been neckdeep in a plot to circumvent the service rule by not wanting to proceed on the three-month pre-retirement preparatory to his retirement from service, having attained 35 years of service and 60 years of age.
He was reported to have begged the Chairman and commissioners of the NASC not to allow him to proceed on the pre-retirement leave, causing unnecessary anxieties in the management of the NationalAssembly.
But THE CONCLAVE has just learnt that critical stakeholders have moved in to advise the Chairman of NASC, Engineer Ahmed Kadi Amshi, not to kowtow to Architect Ojo’s moves to circumvent the rule.
One of those who had reached out to the NASC chairman, as learnt, was a former CNA, Dr Maikasuwa, who during his tenure did not wait until the compulsory three-month pre-retirement leave to commence before voluntarily retiring six months ahead.
He remains the only one on the annals of the National Assembly management to have done so.
In a message he sent to the NASC chairman, Maikasuwa said that he should allow due process and precedents to guide the Commission in this instant case.
“With utmost respect and humility, I crave your kind indulgence to allow due process and precedence to prevail on the pre-retirement of Arc. Ojo, the incumbent CNA.
“In doing this, you will get a pass mark from Nass Staff members, Nigerians, posterity and the Almighty God.
“Thank you and please urgently do the needful.”
He signed off the message as Dr Salisu A. Maikasuwa, OON, mni, former CNA, Ciroman Keffi.
Tension has heightened in the National Assembly and expectations are high that the NASC will send a correspondence to the National Assembly appointing a successor to Architect Ojo since he (Ojo) is proceeding on his three-month pre-retirement leave on Monday, November 14, 2022.
Today, Friday, November 11, 2022, being the last working day in the week, would seem to be best time possible for the NASC official communication on the appointment of a successor to Archtect Ojo to happen.
THE CONCLAVE reports that once the NASC takes the decision and issues a letter in accordance, it will render Arcitect Ojo’s tenure functus officio as he would compulsorily proceed on Monday , November 14, 2022, on his pre-retirement leave.
