Jerry Ekpekuro, a well-known Urhobo gospel musician and evangelist, was reportedly kidnapped by gunmen two days before Christmas in Delta State.
Reports say Evangelist Ekpekuro, known for his unique Urhobo gospel music, was abducted on Monday.
Details about the incident were still unclear as of press time, and it has yet to be known if the kidnappers had contacted his family.
This is not the first time the gospel singer had been kidnapped.
In December 2020, Ekpekuro was taken along the Osubi-Eku road in Okpe Local Government Area while he was reportedly heading to his farm.
At that time, the armed men reportedly set an ambush and took him by force to an unknown location.
During the 2020 incident, the kidnappers asked for a ransom of N50 million, which was later reduced to N15 million before he was released.
Jerry Ekpekuro is from Ewhrenene and Ekiugbo communities in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State.
His music and evangelism have made him popular throughout the Niger Delta.
Residents and fans are using social media to urge security agencies to act quickly and ensure Ekpekuro’s safe return. [eeLive]
