The Zamfara State Police Command has denied reported attack on police station in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
In a statement the Command Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Shehu said the report is misleading and inaccurate
Shehu said further stated that in the early hours of Friday, 24th September 2021, armed bandits in their large number attempted to attack Shinkafi, but were proactively repelled by the joint Police and Military operatives stationed in the town, with heavy casualties suffered by the bandits.
Shehu said no loss of live either from the security forces or the inhabitants, and that nobody was abducted.
He added that the security situation in the town is very calm, with communities going about their legitimate business and new security measures are being enforced effectively.
Shehu expressed surprised at the level which a reputable newspaper published such a sensitive security report without proper confirmation from the police or any constituted authority, when their correspondent is in Gusau.
He enjoined members of the press as well as general public to desist from airing fake and unsubstantiated stories.
Shehu advised journalists to always verify reports that come their way before going on air.
