Officers of the Nigeria Police attached to the Special Tactical Squad in Abuja have been apprehended for their involvement in a case of extortion amounting to Thirty Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N30,300,000).
In an official statement, Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the incident was brought to light through the X Platform, prompting swift action from the Force.
“The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has demonstrated a firm commitment to upholding integrity and accountability within the Nigeria Police Force.
“In line with this commitment, he has ordered the commencement of disciplinary proceedings against the implicated officers.
“This decisive action underscores the zero-tolerance stance of the Force towards misconduct or corruption within its ranks.
“The arrested officers, along with their accomplices, are currently in custody following extensive investigations.
“The IGP has emphasized the urgency of ensuring that those found guilty face the full consequences of their actions. Such behavior not only tarnishes the reputation of the Force but also undermines efforts to maintain law and order in the country.
“The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its dedication to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
“As custodians of public safety and the rule of law, the Force is committed to ensuring that all officers adhere strictly to ethical conduct.
“Transparency and accountability remain paramount in maintaining public trust, and the NPF will continue to take decisive action against any misconduct within its ranks,” he said.
