The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has made significant progress in combating crime and ensuring public safety across the nation.
In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, said over the past six weeks, police operatives had arrested a total of 1,284 suspects, including 307-armed robbery suspects, 296 kidnapping suspects, 301 homicide suspects, 176 rape/defilement suspects, and 204 suspected cultists.
Additionally, 284 firearms, 6,702 rounds of ammunition, 107 vehicles, and 97 kidnapped victims had been recovered.

Among the notable achievements, police successfully dismantled a notorious robbery syndicate operating in the Jos-North/Jos South region of Plateau State.
The 16-member syndicate, which included nine individuals posing as police officers to steal motorcycles and tricycles, was apprehended.
In other operations, a notorious house robber and a group of metal scavengers smuggling valuables from refuse were also arrested.
IGP Egbetokun commended the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force for their dedication and swift execution of duties.
In efforts to further combat crime, the IGP established an Anti-Money Laundering unit at the Force Headquarters, led by CP Hycenth Edozie Azuka.
Additionally, a new commander for the IGP-STFPIB was appointed to address oil theft and pipeline vandalism.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to fulfilling its constitutional mandate to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
“The IGP reaffirmed his dedication to this mission and called for maximum public cooperation and support to minimize crime in society,” the statemebt said.
