All is set for the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to hold the Southwest Congress in Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Monday (April 12).
The party had already fixed Saturday, April 10 for the exercise in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital but the disagreement between two main factions of the party in the zone being led by former governor Ayo Fayose and incumbent Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, forced the party to reschedule the exercise shortly after an emergency meeting held with the gladiators.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement after the emergency meeting of the NWC and the gladiators, said the matter had been resolved.
Meanwhile, as the Congress is about to hold, information gathered by The Conclave indicated that the names of Mr Sunday Bisi and Hon Soji Adagunodo, who are both laying claim to the party’s chairmanship in the state were missing on the delegates’ list.
According to the delegates’ list released by the National Working Committee of the party, the position of the Chairman was not being currently occupied.
But in the delegates’ list, Adagunodo’s name was nowhere to be found while that of Bisi appeared as Publicity Secretary.
While speaking with our Correspondent during a telephone chat, Mr Sunday Bisi said “I am the recognised and constitutional (legal) Osun PDP Chairman and I am on ground to receive all the delegates, chieftains and other members of our party while all is now set for the part’s Congress to hold.”
Meanwhile, efforts by our Correspondent to speak with Hon Soji Adagunodo proved abortive as he refused to pick calls to his telephone number.
