The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party funded by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has announced Senator Sandy Onor as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The announcement was made Tuesday at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja by Chairman of the Presidential Primaries Collation Committee and former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.
Ortom said the decision followed consultations and voice votes conducted among party members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Senator Onor emerged as the sole aspirant after declaring his intention to contest and obtaining his expression of interest and nomination forms earlier this month.
National Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Abdullahi Zuru and Prof. Rhoda Habor Gumus, monitored the exercise at Wadata Plaza.
Following the announcement, PDP leaders presented Onor with a certificate of return and the party flag.
