▪ Maintains that fuel should not exceed N150/litre in Nigeria

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized the All-Progressives Congress (APC) for endorsing the exorbitant N617 per litre fuel price, calling it a display of extreme insensitivity and callousness towards Nigerians.

The Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, warned that the price increase had worsened the already suffocating economic situation under the APC administration and could potentially lead to a serious crisis if left unchecked.

Ologunagba expresses dismay that instead of focusing on stabilizing and growing the economy, the APC administration has neglected the welfare of Nigerians, which should be the primary purpose of the government according to the Constitution.

“This neglect has left citizens at the mercy of market forces and exploitative individuals, showcasing a lack of accountability to the people.

“The PDP is alarmed at the APC’s ill-conceived, poorly planned, and hastily executed policies, which are driving Nigeria’s economy into the ground.

“The value of the national currency is plummeting, businesses and production are shutting down, and citizens are losing their livelihoods.

“The cost of essential goods and services like food and medication is skyrocketing, causing immense hardship for millions of families,” he said.

According to Ologunagba, “this dire situation is a direct result of the APC’s insensitivity, corruption, incompetence, and inability to effectively manage the nation’s economy.”

He lamented that Nigeria’s current state was far from what citizens hoped for after enduring eight challenging years under the Buhari-led APC administration.

“The situation has worsened with no signs of improvement.

“The PDP dismisses the APC’s insensitive arguments about market forces and comparisons with other countries that have better infrastructure, transportation systems, and higher incomes.

“The party insists that the N617 per liter fuel price is excessive, unjustifiable, and unacceptable, considering the economic potentials within Nigeria.

“The PDP believes that with efficient, transparent, and innovative resource management, leveraging national comparative advantages, and expanding the value chain in refining capacity, fuel should not cost more than N150 per litre in Nigeria,” he said.
